Our Board of Directors

Donna Bowers is Division Director of Cardiovascular Services at UTHealth East Texas. She previously served at SCL Health as Vice President of Oncology and Cardiovascular Service Lines. Donna holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from Texas Woman’s University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Texas A&M Law School. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator, a licensed attorney, certified in Health Care Privacy, and received her certificate in mediation.

David Muntz began his career as a biostatistician, then became CIO, and ultimately rose to the position of CEO at Wadley Research Institute and Blood Bank in Dallas. He returned to health information technology at Texas Health Resources, where he functioned as SVP & CIO for 15 years. In 2012, David accepted a White House appointment to serve as the first Principal Deputy National Coordinator and CIO at ONC. David returned to the private sector as CIO of GetWellNetwork through 2015 and then served as a member of the Board of Directors until 2018.

Sally Sidwell serves as the Senior Vice President of Client Engagement with Optum, leading regionally located Client Success Executives to engage and delight some of Optum’s largest and most complex clients. Sally worked on the UHC side of the house within Uniprise from 1994 through 2001. She left UnitedHealth Group and worked for ADP, leading the beyond payroll businesses of Health & Welfare, COBRA, and FSA. She later joined Kaiser Permanente as the Chief Operations Officer for Georgia before returning as an Optum employee in January 2011. Sidwell has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare with companies including ADP, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente, and UnitedHealth Group.

Anisa Tootla is a nonprofit executive with extensive experience in organizational strategy, modernizing membership organizations for growth and operational excellence, and building strong teams for success. Here previous experience includes the League of Women Voters and the AARP Foundation. She currently serves as a Chair of the Board of Directors of Kakenya’s Dream, a non-profit dedicated to providing life-changing education to empower girls, end harmful traditional practices, and transform rural communities in Kenya.

Jill S. Clark has served in various leadership roles and on committees as a member volunteer of AHIMA, PHIMA and the Central Pennsylvania HIMA. She has contributed to numerous professional articles, has been a technical reviewer for HIM publications, and has served as a part-time instructor for DeVry University, Health Information Technology Program.

Wendy Coplan-Gould founded Health Record Services (now known as HRS) in 1979, the same year that ICD-9 became the inpatient coding standard in the United States. Using her status as an approved ICD-9 trainer, she built a consulting and outsourced coding business from the ground up. Today, HRS is a health information management and clinical revenue cycle solutions company that provides consulting and outsourcing services to hospitals and healthcare organizations. It specializes in outsource coding services, clinical documentation improvement, HIM consulting, and ICD-10 preparedness and training.

Andrew Fehlman joined EDCO in 2008 and currently serves as CEO. Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Andrew held the title of Senior Vice President of Regional Sales. In his current role, he leads EDCO’s sales function and oversees the strategic path of the Company. Andrew also provides oversight to the Company’s operations, technology, finance, and human resources functions. As CEO, Andrew leads more than 400 employees with offices in St. Louis, Springfield, and Sioux, Missouri.

Vicki Wheatley is a health information management executive with demonstrated ability to lead a profitable business unit, organize operational activities, engage employees, delight customers, and successfully integrate technology into operations. Vicki is a member of AHIMA and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). She serves on the Board of Directors of Reading Works, an adult literacy program. She holds a B.S. in Medical Record Administration from the University of Illinois, and an M.S in Management and Administrative Sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Tim is the Vice President of Health Information Services (HIS) for the New Jersey Hospital Association. His role focuses on identifying industry needs, creating innovative services, and offering solutions to clients. Tim also assists members with association needs such as proper coding of COVID-19. As a member of the Executive team, he has participated in strategic planning, financial management, and supports a diverse membership group. Previously Tim was divisional director of HIS for large teaching facilities. Tim is currently president/chair of the AHIMA Board of Directors.

Vera Rulon is a creative and innovative healthcare strategist and thought leader with a keen interest in empowering providers, patients and caregivers to take charge of their health. This includes better communication between healthcare providers, payers, the life sciences, communities, and patients/caregivers; ensuring access to healthcare all over the world; and, importantly, the use of data and research to advance public health world-wide.

MaryAnne Sterling is EVP, Caregiver Experience, at Livpact and the CEO of Sterling Health IT Consulting. She has been a thought leader in health information technology and health policy for over a decade, focused on healthcare transformation through the eyes of patients and their families. She was a caregiver and healthcare advocate for her parents for 20+ years. She is a renowned speaker and educator on family caregiver issues and dementia, as she and her husband have 3-out-of-4 parents impacted by the disease. She is an outspoken advocate of person-centered healthcare, family caregiver empowerment, and Alzheimer's education. Her personal story has been featured in Forbes, Kiplinger, New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal.

With over 20 years of dedication, Fran Ayalasomayajula, executive healthcare strategist and technologist, serves the interests of populations around the world to improve the quality of healthcare, increase access to healthcare, and obtain higher rates of health literacy and patient engagement. Currently the Head of Digital Health Strategy, Worldwide at HP, Fran leads the organization in devising strategies and innovations designed to advance and deliver improved clinical outcomes and better population health. Prior to HP, Fran worked for major healthcare institutions, including PAHO - WHO, CDC, BMS, and UHG.

Lynda Mitchell has 20 years’ experience in healthcare management and 15 years’ experience in nonprofit leadership roles. She currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer for Allergy & Asthma Network, where she leads the day-to-day operations, which includes digital transformation and aligning projects with strategic goals and cross functional team collaboration.

Malio West is a senior financial leader with 22 years of expertise in capital markets, debt markets, IPO readiness, and global mergers & acquisitions (M&A). He is dedicated to the administrative, financial, and risk management operation of organizations and leverages his experience in fiscal and operational strategy, metrics, and control system monitoring to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Currently, Dr. West owns Global Accounting that has offices in Lisbon Portugal, Washington DC, and Portland, Oregon. Global Accounting provides HIPAA and HITRUST audits to Veteran Administration Hospitals, international hospitals, and United States domestic hospitals.

Hailed as an innovative leader with a vision for transformative growth, Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE, is the Chief Executive Officer for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the leading voice for health information management, impacting one billion patient visits each year through health data integrity and best practices. Prior to AHIMA, Dr. Harris was CEO at the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and the League of Women Voters Education Fund.
